The 38th annual National Magazine Awards

The 2014 National Magazine Awards are open for submissions. Submit your best work from 2014 for awards in 45 written, visual, integrated and special categories.

Early-Bird Deadline: January 11, 2015
Final Deadline:
January 19, 2015

 

In addition to reviewing the categories, rules and FAQ, before you submit you will need the following:

  • Name and email of the author/creator and editor/art director of each piece;
  • Title, date and publication of each piece;
  • PDF of each piece (printable, single-page spreads 8.5 x 11 for written categories; single- or double-page spreads for all others);
  • Method of payment (cheque or credit card);
  • Statement of editorial mandate (for new magazines and for certain categories).

 

 

What’s New This Year?

One New Award: Best Magazine Brand - This Special Award will go to the publisher whose brand best delivers on their editorial mandate through at least three platforms. The platforms may include a print or digital magazine, a website, SIP(s), mobile app(s), tablet, social media, television shows, radio broadcasts, live events, innovations in print or digital media and other forms of audience engagement. 

 

No More Photocopies - All written categories except Editorial Package no longer require hard copies. Submit only single-spread 8.5x11 PDF versions when you complete the online application.

Small Magazine Rebate

Are you a small magazine publisher? This year the NMAF is offering one (1) FREE entry to the National Magazine Awards for all magazines (print and digital) with under $200,000 annual revenue.

Call for Judges

The NMAF is accepting candidates to serve as judges for the 38th National Magazine Awards. Read moreabout the judging process and how to nominate yourself or your colleagues.

 

 

Magazine of the Year

The most coveted award bestowed by the National Magazine Awards Foundation is the prize for Magazine of the Year. This award will go to the magazine that most consistently engages, surprises and serves the needs of its readers. There are also special awards for Tablet Magazine of the Year and Magazine Website of the Year.

Best New Creators

Are you (or is one of your creators) an emerging magazine talent? The NMAF recognizes new talent to the magazine industry with the awards for Best New Magazine Writer and Best New Illustrator or Photographer. The entry fees for these awards are only $25 per person (plus HST).

Foundation Award for Outstanding Achievement

Each year the NMAF awards its highest individual honour--the Foundation Award for Outstanding Achievement--to an individual whose innovation and creativity in the Canadian magazine industry is exemplary. Deadlines

The early-bird deadline for submissions to this year’s National Magazine Awards is January 11, 2015. The final deadline is January 19.
