"How does judging work?"

The judging process for the National Magazine Awards can often seem complicated. And in many respects, it is. After all, the program is bilingual, so we need English, French and bilingual judges. The categories include written, visual and integrated content, so we need judges who are editors, art directors, photographers and subject specialists. We do our best to avoid conflicts of interest, so our search for judges stretches across the continent and sometimes beyond. And we do all this with the help of volunteers and the support of a small number of paid contract facilitators.

We also continually strive to ensure the judging process remains fair and transparent, and to do that we need your ongoing support and help. Please take the time to read the complete list of rules, the description of the judging process and the foundation’s Governance Policy.
