Co-financing
Have budget
constraints prevented your publication from submitting entries for the National Magazine Awards?
We may have the solution. The National Magazine Awards Foundation believes that restricted financial
resources should not prevent small, qualified Canadian magazines from submitting their best work to the NMA
annual contest. In order to ensure that the contest truly acknowledges the best work in the Canadian
magazine industry, the National Magazine Awards Foundation now offers a co-financing plan to help smaller
magazines participate.
To be eligible, your publication's annual revenue must be below $250,000 (this figure represents all
revenues received including any grants, subsidies or funding from foundations, associations or
corporations). For magazines with a total paid and controlled circulation of 20,000 or less, the fund
will provide a subsidy for the magazine’s first three entries. The Foundation has set aside a limited fund
and the subsidy will be made available on a first come, first served basis to those
applicants who meet the qualifying criteria stated above.
Submitters are asked to provide a recent print run confirmation from the magazine’s printer, or an ABC or CCAB audited statement.
Applications are available for download here.
Completed applications must be received at the Foundation office by fax or email no later than
Friday, December 12, 2008. Applicants will be notified by email of their acceptance by
December 19, 2008.
Once accepted, the applicant must provide full payment with their entries, following
which a refund cheque will be prepared and sent to them no later than February 28, 2009.
If you have any questions about the status of your application please contact us at staff@magazine-awards.com.
